EL ATLETICO ACUDE HOY AL TAS CON SINAMA y ASSUNÇAO

La delegación del Atlético parte hoy a Lausana donde mañana presentará ante el TAS el recurso por la sanción de la UEFA de un partido a puerta cerrada que se jugará el día 26 ante el PSV. A primera hora de la tarde de hoy se marcharán a Suiza los abogados Clemente Villaverde, Juan de Dios Crespo y los jugadores Assunçao y Sinama. La UEFA ha acusado al Atlético de racismo y los dirigentes del club rojiblanco quieren desmontar esta tesis al llevar a declarar a dos jugadores de color de su plantilla. El club volverá a incidir en que no hubo gritos racistas a los jugadores del Marsella y que la entidad no es responsable de la actuación policial en el interior del estadio. El Atlético espera quedarse sin sanción.

Lausanne, 4 November 2008, the Spanish football club Atlético de Madrid SAD, has filed an appeal with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) against the decision rendered by the UEFA Appeals Body on 31 October 2008. The Spanish club requests the annulment of the sporting sanction (two matches behind closed doors, with one match deferred for two years) and of the financial sanction (fine of EUR 150’000) and also requests that the sporting sanction be stayed, considering, in particular, the proximity of the next Champions League match in Madrid on 26 November 2008 against PSV Eindhoven.
Further directions with respect to the arbitration procedure will be issued later by the tribunal in accordance with the Code of Sports-related Arbitration. The parties have the possibility of requesting an expedited procedure from the CAS should they want a final decision before 26 November 2008.
